Danielle’s mother contacted me last year asking if I could create the flowers for her daughter’s croquembouche, which would be made and assembled by the charming french bakery Patisserie La Cigogne. I loved the idea and signed on for the collaboration. I was a wee bit skeptical about making “ice blue” flowers. But when I […]
This little project was so fun, I couldn’t wait to share it with you. Feast your eyes on these sweet little combos, made up of sliced vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, classic sugar cookies, tinted “condiment” frostings, fondant and white chocolate sprinkles. Find out what inspired this Roxycakes creation below or at the very charming style […]
In anticipation of the royal wedding, CBC’s Steven & Chris hosted a special Royal Weddings episode which featured a few Kate-inspired Roxycakes creations. What I *love* about […]
Confession: I can’t keep fresh flowers alive for more than a couple days. I can however make sugar flowers that last a lifetime. So I have a brown thumb in the garden and a green one in the kitchen. It’s working out fine. So this collection was inspired in part by my dream to become […]

There are people you meet whose work inspires you to take your own creative leaps. My sister is definitely one of those people. She’s a photographer and the talent behind the lens of many of the photos on Roxycakes.ca. Josée inspires me to capture in cakes the level of emotion she’s able to capture in her […]
Chris and Aree opted for three glorious cupcake bouquets rather than traditional tiered cake for their summer wedding held at the discreet and luxurious Windsor Arms Hotel. The bouquets were a delicious hit, set against a backdrop of luscious cherry blossom arrangements designed by Bliss Events..
This has been a tremendous year for Roxycakes; but the last few weeks have been very difficult on a personal level, as my father was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. Last week, while on a trip to visit him, I was notified that Roxycakes won a Wedluxe Best of 2010 Award. The goal of this blog […]
Rebecca Lane is an important part of my life and business: she’s my violin teacher and one of my greatest sources for creative inspiration. I knew she performed at weddings in the GTA, but it never occured to me that we might actually work with the same clients – that is, until I was browsing the stunning […]
About a year ago, a man named Michael approached me about a surprise birthday cake for his beloved girlfriend, Jill. The amount of thought and planning that Michael put into this special surprise gave me a glimpse of the genuine love and affection between these two. Needless to say, I was thrilled to year, just a year later, […]
Really: sculpted cakes! A sculpted cake that looks like traditional cakes. Every single element of this cake is sculpted: the nuts, the graham cracker crumbs, the coconut, the cherry, the strawberries, the slices — all sculpted to look like the real deal. It’s my ode to traditional cake – a reminder of how much cakes have progressed […]
I confess, I tend to fall in love with my clients, and Melissa is no exception. Double-confession: that goes for her mum, too. Melissa and Rob left absolutely no detail unattended to achieve this breathtakingly romantic picture. I simply dare you to read through their photo story without getting misty! Oh, and see if you […]
Sometimes, just a few months before your wedding, you’ll stumble across the perfect detail for your day: the one that’s undeniably you, that perfectly captures your love for eachother, your passion for life. Elisabeth and Maurice had what I call a cake-aha moment one evening while contemplating their book collection. They decided their wedding cake […]

I just love when clients know exactly what they want. It makes it so much more fun to realize their vision and, hopefully, exceed their expectations! Melissa wanted a cake that looked just like the centerpieces at her elegant wedding shower: peach roses in a cream ‘porcelain’ teapot! Love it…
When Daniela came to me for her wedding shower cake, she wanted something pink, elegant and out of the ordinary. We came up with a three-tiered cake shaped like a decadent cupcake topped with an oversized sugar peony. The cake measured 18″ tall and was the perfect centerpiece for her special event!
Mike and Christine wanted a simple, elegant and sparkling creation for their wedding. Delicate sugar strings with hand-piped beads were painted in various shades of edible gold, silver, pink and blue sparkle to create this enchanting chandelier effect.
People always ask me, “What’s your favourite type of cake to make?” They usually expect to hear sculpted cakes, but it’s the really pretty romantic cakes that get me excited, like Suzie’s cake. Inpsired by the gorgeous pattern on her bridesmaids’ gowns and the breathtaking creations of Fiori Floral & Event Design. If I were to marry […]
I’m completely inspired this week. First, I had the opportunity to view the Vera Wang Fall 2010 Bridal Collection up-close at a cocktail party last Thursday night. Absolutely breathtaking! Then, I was asked to bring samples and an elegant display cake for their boutique! Since the Fall 2010 bridal collection features stunning black accents, I accessorized this romantic […]
Olivia wanted a small cake with a peony and gold accents for an intimate gathering with her bridesmaids. I thought I’d share this little gem with you to show that even small cakes can make a big impact!

Nestled in the historic Distillery District are some of the city’s most romantic wedding venues. Meaghan chose Balzac’s Coffee House for her intimate wedding, as well as individually frosted and decorated wedding cakes for each of her guests. I love Balzac’s, and I love minis and special touches – so this one tops my list!
When everyone starts mourning the end of summer, I’m looking forward to the fall season. I can’t help it – Fall is my favorite season! I love the warm clothes, the colors, and of course, the wedding cakes! Amanda’s fall wedding theme included a mix of burnt orange orchids, cinnamon, ivory and gold accents. Based […]
Many brides are looking for something completely different for their wedding cake. In this case, Lyndsay wanted to skip traditional wedding cake in lieu of cupcakes – but she took it a step further by asking me to arrange the cupcakes into gorgeous “bouquets”, complete with vases and ribbon.
