The Roxycakes Blog

Welcome!

I created the Roxycakes Blog as an extension of Roxycakes.ca to show you things I couldn't fit on the main site, yet couldn't bear to keep from you! This section is updated on a weekly basis - so you can keep up with all of the new and exciting developments at Roxycakes. And if you see your cake on this site, let your voice be heard by posting your comments right here and now! Thanks for visiting and hope to see you soon!

Sweet regards,

Suzie’s Cake

People always ask me, “What’s your favourite type of cake to make?” They usually expect to hear sculpted cakes, but it’s the really pretty romantic cakes that get me excited, like Suzie’s cake.  Inpsired by the gorgeous pattern on her bridesmaids’ gowns and the breathtaking creations of Fiori Floral & Event Design. If I were to marry […]

Melissa & Billy

Melissa’s one of my all-time favourite clients. I’d tell you why she and Billy are so awesome, but you can really see it for yourself in the breathtaking photography and videography captured by Stillmotion on their wedding day. Here’s a clip of the same-day-edit montage featuring a couple of Roxycakes moments… the story of billy […]

A 50-Year Love Story

Over the holidays, I was contacted by the daughter of a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary. I initially refused the order as it happened to be for the 26th of December, and Roxycakes was closed for the holidays. She responded by telling me the story of her parents’ lives, which I found so incredibly inspiring […]

Meaghan’s Minis

Nestled in the historic Distillery District are some of the city’s most romantic wedding venues.  Meaghan chose Balzac’s Coffee House for her intimate wedding, as well as individually frosted and decorated wedding cakes for each of her guests. I love Balzac’s, and I love minis and special touches – so this one tops my list!

Sweet Peonies

Peonies are hot! I’ve yet to meet a bride this year who isn’t incorporating this romantic, complex flower into her wedding décor. Who can blame them? I’m also under the peony spell, which is great since I’ll be making lots of sweet replicas of these beauties this wedding season.

Have your cake and save it, too.

Many couples choose to save the top tier of their wedding cake. By tradition, they set it aside until their first anniversary. To do this, the cake should be triple-wrapped in plastic, placed into a box, covered in foil and then placed into the freezer. These crucial steps might appear simple – but on the […]

Spring is in the air…

It’s April, and officially wedding season! What better way to start off the season than with this simple, elegant design. “It was an absolutely delightful experience to work with Roxy.  From the very first consultation – where she asked excellent questions, shared her portfolio, and provided a sample of her offerings – Roxy positioned herself […]

Leah & Jeremy’s Cake

When I met Leah for a consultation, she knew exactly what she wanted – a delicate, romantic white floral design set against a very light pink background to flow with her pink and red wedding theme. It was a joy to work with her and I felt honored to be part of their breathtaking wedding […]
